Resizing is not the same as compressing: compression reduces file weight while keeping dimensions, whereas resizing actually changes the width and height in pixels. It's the operation you need when a platform requires precise dimensions (for example 1080×1080 for Instagram, 1200×630 for an Open Graph image, 1920×1080 for a web banner) or when you want to lower resolution for a fast send. The trap is that a poorly done resize — for example stretching the image without respecting the original aspect ratio — distorts the subject and produces an amateurish result. Our tool keeps the aspect ratio by default to avoid this problem, but lets you force arbitrary dimensions if you know what you're doing. Upscaling is also possible, but with a limit: you can't invent pixels that don't exist, so enlarging a small image beyond its native resolution always produces blur. For downscaling, on the other hand, the result is sharp and high quality thanks to the resampling algorithm used.

What is the difference between resizing and compressing?+
Resizing changes the image dimensions (pixel count, e.g., 1920x1080). Compressing reduces the file size (in KB/MB) without necessarily changing dimensions.
Can I enlarge a small image?+
Technically yes. However, enlarging an image often creates blurriness because the computer has to 'invent' missing pixels. It is better to downscale than upscale.
